Madeline Gale

Madeline_Gale_PhotoMadeline B. Gale (“Cookie”), age 89 of Bridgewater, died peacefully October 18, 2018 at the Candlewood Valley Health & Rehab center, after a prolonged illness. She was the wife of the late Edward L. Gale.

Madeline was born in New Milford, CT on April 6th, 1929, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Chumcha) Boltrom. A graduate of New Milford high school, she was employed as an operator with the Southern New England Telephone Company for more than twenty years, retiring in 1989.  Madeline was a Bridgewater resident for more than fifty years, loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in her gardens, reading and walking near the center of town.  She was active as a Cub Scout Den Mother and volunteer at the Bridgewater Burnham Elementary School.

Madeline was a member of St Francis Xavier Church in New Milford and is survived by her sons Peter and wife Sally of Houston TX, David of Collegeville PA, Colin of Kirkland WA and three grandchildren: Brenna, Christopher and Benjamin.

She also leaves a brother Francis Boltrom of Monroe, Maine, and two sisters; Maryanne Haywood of Rochester, NY, and Alice Pollard of San Rafael, CA. Mrs. Gale is predeceased by her siblings: John Boltrom, Cecile Anderson, Helen Boltrom and Kathryn Rosati.

A graveside service will be held on Monday October 22, 2018 at 11AM at the St Francis Xavier Cemetery, New Milford CT. Arrangements by Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, CT.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Bridgewater Senior Center, 132 Hut Hill Rd, Bridgewater, CT 06752
