Reutimann, Ernst J.

Ernst J. Reutimann of New Milford, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 12, 2017 at the age of 90.
Ernst was born on October 10, 1926 in Baden, Switzerland to the late Ernst and Marie (Luthi) Reutimann. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Fedora (Borghini) in 1998 and beloved daughter Nina Dooley in 2016.
After completing his culinary apprenticeship in Lucerne, Switzerland, Mr. Reutimann came to the United States along with his wife and daughters in 1952 and after a brief stay in Denver, CO the family moved to New Milford, CT. He was employed by The Nestle Company for more than 48 years as an R&D Chef and held 10 patent awards as inventor of numerous food related techniques. He had a great passion for travel which he did not only through work but also for pleasure. After his retirement Ernst often traveled back to his homeland of Switzerland and that of his wife’s, Italy.
Ernst was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his daughters Jeanette Nowell and her husband Robert of New Milford, CT, Mariella Meehan and her husband John of Myrtle Beach, SC, son-in-law Allen Dooley of New Milford, CT, 9 grandchildren Brigit Orioles, Michael Meehan, Kevin Meehan, Vanessa French, Katherine Dooley, Kristofer Nowell, Taylor Nowell, Robert Nowell, Megan Castellano and 10 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2017 at 12:00pm at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery in New Milford. Calling hours will be Monday April 17, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
