Westfall, Stephen D.

Stephen Daniel Westfall, 41, of Seymour, CT, passed away unexpectedly in Derby, CT, on Sunday February 26, 2017. In times of death loved ones often spout beautiful exaggerations of the recently departed; however, when speaking about Stephen’s sweet, kind spirit, we could not put the proper emphasis on it if we tried. He was a friend to all he met. He was a man of simple needs and cared deeply for those around him. Loyal to a fault, loving in his nature, Stephen will leave a vast hole in the lives of those who were privileged to know him.

Stephen was born on December 5, 1975 in New Milford, CT and was raised in Kent, CT. He loved playing hockey, the New York Yankees, his family, and animals, especially his cherished Labrador, Bella.

Stephen is survived by his loving parents Doreen (David) Filippetti of Framingham, MA and Matthew (Marilee) Westfall of Shelton, CT; his beloved brother Mathew James Westfall of Bridgewater, CT; his stepson Christopher Westfall of Seymour, CT; his maternal grandmother and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were like family.

Visitation hours are Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lillis Funeral home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 26 Chestnut Land Road, New Milford, CT. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Stephen’s name to the American Humane Society, 1400 16th Street NW, Suite 360, Washington, DC 20036 or visiting
