Hipp, Kenneth T.

Kenneth T. Hipp, 69, of New Milford,CT, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, November 18, 2016.
Ken was born in New Milford on May 24, 1947, the son of the late Theodore and Helen (Forrest) Hipp. After attending New Milford schools, he went on to study at Quinnipiac University, and upon graduation he joined the Army Reserves. Then on August 1, 1970, he married Josephine Testani and settled back in his home town. For 36 years, Ken was a school teacher at Shelter Rock Elementary School in Danbury, and retired in 2005.
In his spare time, Ken enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid reader; he loved the outdoors and took many hikes with his family. He was the happiest on his lawn mower, cleaning up the fall leaves, taking care of his yard as well as many others. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, as well as his many friends and neighbors who were so important to him.
Ken leaves behind Josephine, his wife of 46 years, his son Larry and wife Jennifer, his daughter Wendy, as well as his brother Glenn Hipp and wife Mary, sister Mary Kalivas, and his beloved grandchildren Ryan Cassel, and Jason and Laina Hipp, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Dwight Hipp.
Calling hours will be held on Monday November 21, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. A Catholic mass will be celebrated on Tuesday November 22, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lakes Church in New Milford at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery in New Milford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ken’s name may be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. Checks can be made out to “In Memory of Kenneth Hipp” and mailed to P.O.
