Stolz, Edward J. Sr.

Edward J. Stolz Sr. of New Milford, CT, passed away Friday September 30, 2016 at New Milford Hospital at the age of 92.
He was born June 13, 1924 in New York, NY, son of the late John and Mary (Curley) Stolz. While attending NYU he enlisted in the Navy and went to Alfred University and became a fighter pilot and served during WWII from Feb. 12, 1943 to Dec. 20, 1944. While serving he also played baseball with the armed services baseball team with Ted Williams and Joey Pesky. After serving in the War he came home and married the love of his life Pearl J. Anderson. Mr. Stolz was a NY City Fire Fighter for 21 years and was the oldest member of Engine 90. He retired in 1972. They moved from Somers, NY, to Colorado Springs, CO in 1987 were they lived for 15yrs. before moving to New Milford, CT, fifteen years ago. His wife Pearl predeceased him in 2013. Mr. Stolz was always the life of the party and will be forever missed.
He is survived by his sons Edward J. Stolz of Fishkill, NY, Paul Stolz and his wife Nancy of New Milford, CT, his daughters Carol Tani and her husband Paul of Milford, DE and Mary Ellen Frazee and her husband Robert of Colorado Springs CO, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and his brother Raymond Stolz of St. Paul MN. He was predeceased by his grandson Stephen Stolz, granddaughter Meaghan Wells and brother John Stolz.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 5, 2016, 9:30 am at St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford followed by the internment at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in New Milford, CT. Calling hours will be held Tuesday October 4, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9pm at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT.
