Engels, Karl H.

Karl H. Engels of New Milford, CT, died Thursday April 28, 2016 at home at the age of 86.
He was born January 30, 1930 in Stamford, CT, son of the late Karl and Emilie (Kreitsberg) Engels. On November 20, 1954 he married Barbara Crane. They moved to New Milford in 1962. Mr. Engels was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Milford and a member at the senior center in New Milford. In his younger years he enjoyed boating and fishing and target shooting with his children. He was a master craftsmen and builder. He was everyone’s go to man when they needed something repaired.
For 33 years worked for SNET Company as an installer. He also apprenticed at Yale and Towne Manufacturing Company in Stamford, CT and Southern New England Telephone. He honorably served in the US Navy and the US Air Force.
Karl is survived by his sons Ronald Engels and his wife Jenn of Southbury, CT, Douglas Engels and his girlfriend Jean Mariano of New Milford, CT, his daughters Debra  Jayson and her husband Marc of Sherman, CT, Cynthia Austin of Orlando, FL and his grandchildren April and Erica Austin. He was predeceased by his son Karl Christopher Engels.
A funeral service will be held on Friday May 6, 2016, 10 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Milford with Rev. Christian Bunzel officiating. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery in New Milford. Calling hours will be held on Thursday May 5 from 5 to 8pm at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.
