Miller, Edward F.

Edward Fowler Miller of New Milford, CT, died Monday April 11, 2016 at home at the age of 91.

He was born April 18, 1924 in Harrisburg, PA, son of the late Ralph Emmert and Alice Marie (Fowler) Miller. After graduating from John Harris High School he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1946 to 1957  as a Chief Warrant Officer W4 on the USS Noble APA218 and Instructor (elect) RM ‘A’ School. During his service, he received the United Nations Service Metal, Korean Service Medal w/3 bronze stars, National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal, Victory Medal WWII and American Campaign Service Medal.

He met Josette Cristofari in Morocco, North Africa and they married in Harrisburg, PA, on December 9, 1948. After leaving the USNR he started working at The Technical Material Corp. in Mamaroneck, NY, where he was the Chief project engineer and director of data control. Here he designed communications equipment for the Mercury Space Program in the 60’s. In 1986 he retired and moved to New Milford, CT, where he owned and operated Merryall Kennel with his wife Josette. Mr. Miller was a member of Masonic Lodge # 1030 in Larchmont, NY, where he was the youngest Master of the Lodge in 1976. In 1991 he joined St. Peter’s Masonic Lodge #21 in New Milford, CT. He was also a member of the Shriners.

Besides his wife Josette, he is survived by his daughters Margaret Giovannone ( Frank) of Charleston, SC, Leslie Woloszyn (John M.D.) of Jonesboro, AR; grandchildren, Danielle Giovannone and Jacqueline Adams ( Mark), Lisa and Lara Woloszyn; and great grandchildren Amelia and Penelope Adams. He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth M. Miller and a son Edward B. Miller.

Funeral services will be private. The internment will take place in Paxtang Cemetery in Harrisburg, PA.
